Renal Gluconeogenesis. 2. the Gluconeogenic Capacity of the Kidney Cortex of Various Species.

چکیده
2. There are specific repressor effects: galactose is an effective repressor for ,B-galactosidase but not for the other enzymes; conversely, pyruvate represses tryptophanase and serine deaminase but not ,-galactosidase. 3. In wild-type E. coli glucose represses all three enzymes. A mutant has been selected in which there is no glucose effect for any of the enzymes but in which each enzyme remains specifically repressible. 0

Gluconeogenesis from glutamine and lactate in the isolated human renal proximal tubule: longitudinal heterogeneity and lack of response to adrenaline.
Recent studies in vivo have suggested that, in humans in the postabsorptive state, the kidneys contribute a significant fraction of systemic gluconeogenesis, and that the stimulation of renal gluconeogenesis may fully explain the increase in systemic gluconeogenesis during adrenaline infusion. Given the potential importance of human renal gluconeogenesis in various physiological and pathophysio...

Physiol. 2 19 (6) : 1627-1631. 1970--The enzyme profiles of rat liver and kidney were studied in five different conditions: a) high-carbohydrate, protein-free diet, b) high-carbohydrate (adequate protein) diet with or without exogenous hydrocortisone, and c) high-protein, carbohydr...
متن کاملAmino-acid-dependent, differential effects of ethanol on glucose production in rabbit kidney-cortex tubules.
AIMS The effect of ethanol on glucose synthesis in kidney-cortex tubules of control and diabetic rabbits has been investigated. METHODS Both freshly isolated and grown in primary cultures, kidney-cortex tubules were incubated with alanine or aspartate plus lactate or glycerol plus octanoate in the absence and presence of 100 mmol/l ethanol. RESULTS In freshly isolated renal tubules incubate...
متن کاملBench-to-bedside review: Glucose production from the kidney
Data obtained from net organ balance studies of glucose production lead to the classic view according to which glucose homeostasis is mainly ensured by the liver, and renal glucose production only plays a significant role during acidosis and prolonged starvation. Renal glucose release and uptake, as well as the participation of gluconeogenic substrates in renal gluconeogenesis, were recently re...
متن کاملKidney Cortex Tubules
Triacylglycerol metabolism has been studied in kidney cortex tubules from starved rats, prepared by collagenase treatment. Triacylglycerol was determined by a newly developed fully enzymic method. Incubation of tubules in the absence of fatty acids led to a decrease of endogenous triacylglycerol by about 50% in 1 h. Addition of albuminbound oleate or palmitate resulted in a steady increase of t...
